Tarkett Art Vinyl flooring (Tarket Art Vinyl) - the implementation of creative solutions
Vinyl modular flooring is considered one of the most practical and durable flooring that has emerged in recent years. It may look like parquet, but it does not creak, is not afraid of water and does not require scraping and renewing the varnish. May look like a stone, but not cold and echoing. One of the most popular brands of this flooring is Art Vinyl Tarkett. It was this company that was the first to promote this material on the Russian market. It took just a little over six years, and this cover has a clear following.

What is Art Vinyl Tarkett flooring
Designers love vinyl tiles - there are many types of coverings, many of them can be combined, which gives additional freedom for creativity. This flooring is loved by builders - it is quick and easy to install. Housewives love this material - not only does it look great, it's easy to clean. But, as usual, it all depends on the quality.
One of the stable quality options is Art Vinyl Tarkett. It is a vinyl flooring that comes in tiles (squares) and planks (rectangles). Some consider this coating to be just a kind of linoleum, but this is not so: the composition is different, other materials are used. Moreover, there are differences in sensations - it does not shine, does not stick.
Collections from each other may differ in the thickness of the layers, since they have different purposes. But the sequence of layers itself remains the same.
The composition and purpose of the layers:
- Base... A special grade of vinyl that, with high strength, has a high degree of flexibility. The base thickness varies depending on the grade of the coating. A thicker base has increased thermal insulation properties, better sound insulation, and higher wear resistance.
- Fiberglass... Not present in all episodes. Provides greater dimensional stability (less thermal expansion).
- Decorative layer... Responsible for the appearance of the coating. Tarkett Art Vinyl not only imitates natural materials in color, it also copies texture.
- Protective layers... Most often there are two of them - vinyl and polyurethane. This combination makes it possible to achieve high wear resistance. Even with a small coating thickness, the protective layer is highly resistant to abrasion and mechanical damage (heels do not push through).
The main and main difference between Art Vinyl is in a large number of options. The point is not only in colors and textures, but in the fact that this coating can be combined, creating drawings and compositions. There are ready-made installation schemes, but you can create them individually.
Classification and varieties
If we talk about laying methods, there are two modifications - with locks (you do not need to glue) and which are laid on glue. Art Vinyl Tarkett with locks fits quickly. The locks are coated with an adhesive, protected by a special tape. When laying, the tape is removed, the glue fixes the next fragment. The result is a continuous waterproof coating. The disadvantage of this option is the impossibility of replacing one element. All the fragments are interconnected, which makes this event extremely difficult.
Tarkett Art Vinyl adhesive collections are glued with an adhesive that is compatible with PVC and the material your floor is made of. The disadvantage of this option is that gaps may appear between the tiles due to thermal expansion. Well, styling takes longer.
In terms of durability, Art Vinyl Tarkett is divided into three classes - for residential (household), commercial and industrial premises. The second type has higher abrasion resistance (thicker protective layer). If desired, it can also be placed at home - in rooms with high traffic. Usually these are corridors, hallways, kitchens. Ref Vinyl for household use in commercial premises is better not to be used: it will wipe quickly. Industrial - the most wear-resistant. It can withstand the movement of cars, but its cost is high. Use in household premises is irrational.
Art Vinyl Collections by Tarkett
Today Tarkett produces eight Art Vinyl collections:
Floor covering Art Vinyl Tarkett has high abrasion resistance, if we talk about use in houses and apartments, all collections have a class of use 23, which is the maximum in this area.

Substrate requirements and leveling methods
A completely flat base is required for laying Art Vinyl. "Absolutely even" is one that, when checked with a two-meter rule, has deviations of no more than 2 mm per these 2 meters. Moreover, the "drop" should be smooth. Any, even the smallest, obvious pits and protrusions should be removed / covered.
There are two ways to level the floor that the manufacturer accepts - a concrete screed or plywood by lags. Plywood can be laid on a sub-floor or on an old subfloor, but the floor must be free from slopes. When using plywood, a gap of 5 mm is left around the perimeter of the room between the wall and the sheet. The sheets are laid apart (so that the seams do not coincide), leave a gap of 2-3 mm between adjacent sheets. Fasten with self-tapping screws with a flat head. Under them, pre-drill holes with a diameter greater than the diameter of the cap. The laying field, hats and seams must be putty. After the putty has dried, level it with sandpaper. These are the manufacturer's recommendations.
Based on operating experience, it is advisable to pass seams between plywood sheets with a sealant, which does not lose elasticity after drying. This will better compensate for temperature and humidity expansion. This is especially important for houses that are only periodically heated.
For leveling the floor under Art Vinyl Tarkett with a screed, any finishing or self-leveling mixtures are suitable. They can be based on cement, gypsum, any polymer. Laying is possible only after complete drying. If the substrate has high humidity (above 8-10%), waves and swelling may form.
Regardless of the type of substrate, it must be completely flat, dry and clean. Even a grain of sand can be seen. Therefore, thoroughly clean before laying.It will also not hurt to clean the place of work with a vacuum cleaner during the process.
Glue for Art Vinyl Tarkett
Choose Tarkett Art Vinyl laying glue depending on the substrate. It is important that it is compatible with PVC and your substrate. Be sure to read the instructions before buying. Tarkett recommends an acrylic water-borne adhesive. It does not have a strong odor and can be used indoors. Do not use solvent based adhesives. Recommended brands of adhesive for laying Art Vinyl:
- EUROCOL Eurostar Allround 528
- Ultrabond Eco 375 and V4SP
- Uzin KE 2000 S
- Homakoll 164 prof
The following types of glue are also used (according to the reviews of those who have already laid Art Vinyl):
- Kiilto 2 plus
- Ceresit K188E
- Bostik KE320
Of the above brands, it is more convenient to work with Ceresite. It is more uniform, spreads better and at the same time does not spread. It’s not bad to work with Bostic, it’s cheaper, but it’s a little more difficult to work - less “lifespan”. The consumption of glue is prescribed in the instructions for it, it also depends on the absorbency of the base. To reduce consumption, you can apply a primer that is compatible with the adhesive (it is prescribed in the instructions, but you can dilute the glue with water in a 1/1 ratio and roll the screed with a roller).
Styling Art Vinyl
There are no problems with the installation of the Art Vinil Tarkett (New Age) castle variety. Each piece has a spike and a groove, which fit together without any problems. The second tile is lifted up, the edge is inserted into the groove of the already lying one. after which the fragment is lowered to the floor. No effort is required. Check if the planks are connected normally by sliding your palm along the joint.
It is necessary to install Art Vinyl flooring at a temperature not lower than + 15 ° C, but it is more convenient to work if the temperature is about + 20 ° C. At this temperature, tiles / planks are flexible and easier to work with. If the covering is laid on a heated floor, the heating must be turned off 3-4 days before starting work. After delivery, stacks of material are laid out on a flat, clean surface and left to “acclimatize” for at least 48 hours. If the material was delivered during frosts, the time is increased.
Another important point: the windows in the room are curtained. So that sunlight does not create temperature differences on the floor. Laying on a damp base is not allowed.
Tools and materials
The following tools are required to install Art Vinyl Tarkett:
- notched spatulas for applying glue (if the material is adhesive);
- cork lapping board - for smoothing the coating;
- rubber hammer - to align the joints;
- metal roller 50-70 cm wide - for air removal and high-quality adhesion to the base;
- knife - for cutting the coating to size / shape.
The adhesive is evenly spread over the surface with a notched trowel.
The recommended spatulas are indicated in the technical data sheet for the adhesive. For example, when using Ceresit K 188E Extra, it is recommended to use an A2 or A3 notched trowel, depending on the structure of the back of the coating. For Forbo 528 Eurostar Allround universal adhesive, notched trowel: A1 / A2 / B1 / B2.
The consumption of glue depends on the absorbency of the substrate (on a cement screed without priming it will be more than on plywood). Also, from experience, if you will be laying the coating in more than one room, take several spatulas of A1 and A2 format. They wear off quickly, especially if you put Art Vinyl Tarket on a concrete screed.
Features of work
Please note that the geometry of the planks / tiles is not ideal. The difference is not too large - 1-2 mm, but it cannot be ignored. Before gluing, it is best to collect the entire row of tiles, cut the required fragments to size, and then number them on the back side. Then you can apply glue and lay out a row.
If the coating has a certain pattern, you need to follow it. If you are assembling a covering imitating parquet, make sure that the pattern of the adjacent fragments does not match. To avoid color stains, use planks / tiles from several stacks at once. This gives the best result.Before laying, the back of the tile is wiped with a dry clean cloth, getting rid of possible litter and dust.
When applying glue, it is necessary to ensure that there are no places where the glue has already dried, and a new layer is applied on top. The dried glue must be completely removed (with a metal spatula with an even sharp edge), and then a new layer must be applied. Any areas with a double layer of glue can then come off. Treat the laid out fragment with a metal rolling roller to remove air that can get under the vinyl tile. After 20-30 minutes, roll it again. After all the Art Vinyl Tarkett coating is glued on, wait until the glue is completely dry (indicated on the package).
