What is it made of

A soft floor for children's rooms has been made from a copolymer of ethyl vinyl acetate - EVA or in the Russian version EVA. This copolymer foams, small bubbles are created in it, which give softness, elasticity and thermal insulation properties. Technological processes for obtaining this material are not so important as its characteristics. The most important of them are:

environmentally friendly;
has good shock-absorbing properties;
does not accumulate static electricity;
light;
enhanced sound insulation properties;
has high heat-insulating properties (the same as good heat-insulating materials);
washes well, detergents can be used;
does not absorb moisture or dirt.

The result is an almost ideal floor covering for a child's room, and experience confirms this. If we talk about small children, it is important for them that the surface of the soft floor is non-slip. On such a flooring, they learn to crawl and then walk without any problems. For crawling children, the handles remain warm, and there are no red marks on the knees - the surface is elastic and at the same time not rigid.

The resilience of the surface softens shocks well. Small children often fall, which worries parents. With a soft floor, you don't have to worry, as the shock-absorbing properties soften the impact much. Amortization depends on the thickness of the coating. It can be from 5 mm to 10 mm (the thicker, the softer, but density still matters).

Soft floors for children's rooms are produced in the form of modules of different sizes. They are connected to each other using a lock - like puzzles. The design features gave several more names for this floor covering: modular floor or underfloor heating puzzle. All this is a soft floor in the nursery.

Modular elements of the soft floor in the nursery are connected using protrusions and recesses - locks. Align the edges of the two modules, insert them one into the other, slightly stretch them to the sides. When laying the flooring, pay attention that one of the corners looks like an arrow; try to lay the tiles so that these arrows point in one direction. This is especially important when assembling coatings with a textured surface (there are grooves, wavy lines, with a rough-pimpled upper part).

The soft modular floor can be laid on any flat surface. You can not attach anything - it almost does not slip, but if you wish, you can fix it on double-sided tape.When used in sports halls or other similar premises, the modules are glued with polymer glue.

The soft-surface tiles are supplied with an edge tape that covers the uneven edge. It just slips over the edge. This system has one drawback: curious little children constantly remove this tape, getting to the locks.

Care and operating experience

As mentioned earlier, the material does not accumulate static electricity, therefore dust does not stick to it. The soft floor for children's rooms is wiped with a damp cloth, you can use a detergent for dishes. If such cleaning no longer helps, the rug is disassembled and washed in the bathroom, waiting for the water to drain (it is not absorbed), then reassembled. There is another possibility - to lay the modular floor in the dishwasher and start the mode with a temperature not higher than 55 ° C.

The paints are resistant, do not fade or fade for a long time. If we talk about colors, then yellow dirt is the most visible, but it is understandable - the lightest color.

How to clean soft floor in a nursery

Another pleasant feature of the soft modular coating: spilled liquids and oils are not absorbed into the pores, they do not spread. They can be easily wiped off with a dry cloth, after which no traces remain. Even pencils, paints, markers and plasticine are removed without a trace - and no significant effort is required. Just do not use abrasive products (powders). They scratch the surface, degrading the properties of the coating.

Many parents worry if young children can bite off a piece of the cover. It is impossible to guarantee that they will not try it "to the teeth", but that is what they will not bite off - that's for sure. You can try it yourself. The material is very elastic, if you manage to tear it, then with great difficulty.

One use case

Soft flooring for children's rooms is good not only for toddlers. For schoolchildren, you can choose neutral colors - they are both under parquet and in the form of carpet. The comfort of such a floor is much higher than that of the same carpet. And its undoubted plus is that it does not collect dust and is easily removed.
